Marriott International announced the opening of a new Marriott hotel and a refurbished Sheraton hotel at Frankfurt Airport that is located directly in Terminal 1.

The Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel and Conference Center previously occupied three interconnected buildings with a total of 1,008 rooms.  The renovated Sheraton has 779 rooms and the new Marriott has 233.

The move brings together two brands that were arch rivals prior to the Starwood-Marriott merger. The two hotels have completely distinct identities and facilities although they will share common restaurants, conference rooms, and fitness centers.

Rooms at the Frankfurt Airport Marriott feature an earth tone décor that takes design cues from the city’s rich history of books and printing. The rooms include “work zones” with desks as well as sofas and flexible tables. The hotel also features an M Club that never closes.

The Sheraton’s rooms feature views of the tarmac and a décor in various shades of grey.  Guests will have access to a Sheraton Club Lounge (currently under construction) and the Sheraton Conference Center will offer 57 meeting rooms of various sizes.

With the opening of the new Marriott, the hotel chain will have a total of five properties at Frankfurt Airport including Moxy Frankfurt Airport, Moxy Frankfurt Airport Kelsterbach, and Element Frankfurt Airport.
