American Express announced the opening of its newest Centurion Lounge, this one at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Visitors to the lounge will have access to a variety of presentations depending on time of day, a bar, shower suites, restrooms, and high-speed Wi-Fi.  The lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows allowing views of the tarmac and the city’s skyline. It also has family rooms that are intended to give parents a respite while their children are otherwise occupied.

The presentations, which will be designed by a local Charlotte chef, Joe Kindred, will include a variety of entrees including buttermilk fried chicken accompanied by a tangy Carolina slaw, grilled cauliflower steak, milk bread French toast, and country ham biscuits accompanied by red eye sorghum butter.

The lounge, located on the top floor of the Plaza between Concourses D and E, offers complimentary admittance to holder of American Express Centurion, Platinum, and Delta Reserve cards.

Other lounges in the pipeline include one at London’s Heathrow Airport in the first half of 2020 and what will be the world’s largest Centurion Lounge, a two-story affair in Terminal 4 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.  With the addition of the JFK lounge, New York will be the only city in the world with two Centurion Lounges.
