Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport announced the opening of a new passenger terminal, Terminal C.

The first flight to arrive at the terminal was Aeroflot Flight 2203 from Helsinki.

The new terminal will be home to the airport’s international carriers. It was built as part of the airport’s long-term development program and is part of the Northern Terminal Compelx, which also includes Terminal B.

The Russian Constructivist-style Terminal C was built as a public-private partnership and was designed by the architectural firm RMJM. It is integrated with the rebuilt domestic terminal, Terminal B, which opened in 2019.

The seven-story Terminal C – which covers a total of 1.37 million square feet (127,375 square meters) – can accommodate 20 million passengers per year.  It includes a control tower from which to supervise aircraft ground movement.

Passenger amenities multiple lounges, sleep areas, restaurants, cafes, bars, as well as a baby care room and a children’s play area.  It features multiple duty-free shops throughout the terminal.  It also has a covered six-level parking garage for 2,500 vehicles that is connected to the terminal via a pedestrian crossing and Wi-Fi access is available throughout the terminal.

A second section of Terminal C is slated to open in 2026 and expand capacity by an additional ten million passengers per year.

Sheremetyevo serves over 50 airlines.  The largest airline at the airport is Russian flag carrier Aeroflot.
