JetBlue Records Increase in Traffic and Capacity for December

JetBlue Airways announced operational results for December 2019. The carrier’s traffic and capacity were up for the month.

The New York-based airline’s passenger traffic was 4.6 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 5.7% from 4.35 billion RPMs in the same period last year.

JetBlue’s capacity increased by 4.4% to 5.59 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 5.35 billion ASMs in December 2018.

Meanwhile, the carrier’s passenger load factor for the month was 82.4%, up 1 percentage point from 81.4% last December.

The airline reported that its preliminary completion factor was 99.3% and its on-time performance was 66.7%. It also announced guidance for fourth quarter revenue per available seat mile, or RASM. RASM is expected to decrease approximately 2.7% year-over-year.
