Hyatt Hotels said that its World of Hyatt loyalty program will introduce multiple price categories for award redemptions starting next year.

The change goes into effect in March and introduces off-peak and peak point redemptions for award bookings.  The program will have three tiers, off-peak, standard, and peak and pricing across Hyatt’s eight categories of hotels will vary accordingly.

The hotelier said it will continue to offer its Points + Cash program for peak and off-peak redemptions.  The cash amount for the booking will continue to be 50% of the room rate regardless of the tier.

Off-peak pricing for a standard room starts at 3,500 points per night and can be as much as 35,000 points for a category 8 room.  Standard pricing starts at 4,000 points and maxes out at 40,000, and Peak pricing starts at 6,500 points and tops out at 45,000.

For a suite, off-peak pricing starts at 6,500 points per night and can be as much as 56,000 points for a category 8 suite.  Standard pricing for a suite starts at 8,000 points and maxes out at 61,000, and peak pricing starts at 9,500 points and tops out at 66,000.

Room upgrades such as to club rooms or suites will not be included in peak or off-peak pricing. Once rates are posted, they will not be subject to change, a major different between the new Hyatt peak/off-peak pricing and the dynamic peak/off-peak pricing introduced by Marriott recently.  Hyatt said that most days will be listed with standard rates.
