American Airlines to Reduce Service on Some Transcons from Miami
American Airlines said it plans to reduce the level of service offered on some transcontinental flights between Los Angeles and Miami effective December 8.
The change was announced in a memorandum to employees.
“All flights operating with narrow body aircraft, except for the 32T, will change from a Transcon level of service to our standard Domestic LH service effective December 8th,“ the airline said.
The change means that only those passengers who are scheduled to fly on either a wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777 or on the Airbus A32T, which was specifically designed for premium transcon routes and offers Flagship First and Flagship Business cabins, will receive the higher-level service and amenities.
The airline said that the change was made after extensive flight-attendant feedback, citing “challenges in delivering Transcon service“ on other aircraft.
The differences between standard and transcon service include service levels and the types of menus offered. Transcon service offerings include amenity kits and lounge access.
