Founded in 1974, the International Center of Photography, located just a block from Times Square on the Avenue of the Americas at 43rd Street, is not only a photography museum, but also a school and research center. The permanent collection at the museum includes over 100,000 photographs, most notably portfolios of American and European documentary photography from the 1930s to the 1990s.

Another museum on the Museum Mile, between 85th and 86th streets, the Neue Galerie is a repository of some of the best early twentieth-century German and Austrian works outside of Central Europe.

Finally, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, colloquially referred to as the Guggenheim, houses an expansive collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern, and contemporary art pieces.

4.)    Shopping

Start with a visit to Hudson Yard.  Rising above a dozen acres (five hectares) of rail yard in the West 30s Manhattan, Hudson Yards is a shiny new neighborhood and dining and shopping destination in New York City.

What is already becoming a major attraction within days of opening is the centrally located one-million-square-foot (92,000-square-meter) seven-story mall, the Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards.

Continue at Apple’s flagship Fifth Avenue Store, with its iconic glass cube entrance, that reopened to customers and visitors alike with the launch of the Apple iPhone 11 and 11 Pro following a two-year renovation and expansion.  Today it is the largest Apple store in the world.
