DSC00022Alaska Airlines announced it plans to offer discounts of up to 30% on flights to and from Hawaii based on how big the waves are.

Based on data from surf forecasting company Surfline, the Swell Deals discounts will vary based on the height of forecasted waves at surf breaks in Hawaii.  The discount will increase as the waves get bigger.

“With the start of surf season in Hawaii, we saw an opportunity to further support our flyers’ passions by using the power of data to offer better deals as surf conditions improve,” said Natalie Bowman, the airline’s managing director for marketing.

Swell Deals will be available for purchase between November 4 and November 8, for travel through November 20.  For swells 21’ and higher, the discount will be 30%.  For swells 16’ to 20’, the discount is 20%, and for swells 11’ to 15’, the discount is 15%.  For smaller swells, the discount will be 10%.
