Gett to Shutter Juno, Partner with Lyft

Russian transportation company Gett announced plans to immediate shut down all operations at Juno, the ride-hailing service it owns, while also announcing a new nationwide partnership with Lyft.

Juno, which operates largely in the New York metropolitan area, will go dark by the end of today, November 18, 2020.

The company cited the “the enactment of misguided regulations in New York City earlier this year” as well as Get’s increased focus on the corporate transportation market as the reason for the shutdown.  Last year, New York City enacted regulations that cap the number of drivers for ride-hailing companies such as Uber, Lyft, and Juno, effectively bringing the issuance of new licenses to a trickle.

Gett acquired Juno in 2017 for $250 million.

The partnership with Lyft will allow Gett’s corporation customers to use the Gett app to order transportation with Lyft.  Gett, which is partially funded by Volkswagen, operates in over 100 countries.
