Delta Adds Pre-Flight Ordering of Meals, Updates Seat Maps in Mobile App
Delta Air Lines announced Pre-Select Meals, a service that will allow passengers traveling in Delta One business class and domestic first class to specify an entrée selection in advance of the flight via a new version of the Fly Delta smartphone app.
Delta is the third U.S. airline to offer the option to preorder meals. American Airlines introduced the feature in 2012 and, Alaska added it in 2017. The option is available 21 days prior to checking in via version 5.1 and newer of the app.
The Atlanta-based airline also said it had changed the colors on its seat map in the app to make it easier for passengers to see their selected seat.
Finally, Delta announced it had eliminated the check-in process for most additional flights. The check-in process for most domestic flights was removed starting with version 4.6 of the app back in October 2017.
“We’ve eliminated the check-in process,” the airline said at the time. “Your boarding pass will automatically appear 24 hours before your flight.”
