American Airlines, Royal Air Maroc Plan Partnership
American Airlines and Royal Air Maroc filed an application to offer codeshare services on flights between the United States and Morocco last week.
The two carriers currently have an interline agreement.
“Our goal is to offer customers additional options to reach more destinations in Africa like Marrakech, Accra and Lagos,” said a spokesman for American Airlines. “We look forward to taking this next step in our partnership.”
Royal Air Maroc is slated to become a full member of the oneworld alliance in early 2020.
In August, American announced plans for seasonal service between Philadelphia and Casablanca, starting in May 2020. It will be the first time the airline will serve the African continent.
