Apple May Help United Airlines Upgrade San Francisco Terminal

Are you ready for iCheckin?  Cupertino-based Apple and United Airlines are in early discussions about upgrading the airline’s terminal at San Francisco International Airport, the company told reporters on Friday.

“The Apple team in San Francisco has been in our baggage hold areas, customer service, and the lobbies,” said Linda Jojo, the airline’s chief digital officer.   “I’m being deliberately vague,” she added.

Apple is United’s largest customer, spending approximately $150 million per year based on banners that were inadvertently displayed in a public area of the airport earlier in the year

Apple’s top destination from SFO is Shanghai Pudong International Airport, which accounts for almost 25% of its annual spend with United, $35 million. United said Apple occupies 50 business-class seats “daily” on this route. Other top destinations for the company founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 include Hong Kong, Taipei, London, Seoul, Singapore, Munich, Tokyo (Haneda), Beijing, and Tel Aviv.
