American Airlines to Offer Non-Stop Service to Christchurch, New Zealand in 2020

IMG_0473 (1)American Airlines announced plans to offer thrice-weekly non-stop seasonal service to Christchurch, New Zealand next year.

Christchurch, located in the Southern Alps, is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region.

“The South Island sums up everything that our customers are looking for in New Zealand – adventure, culture and wildlife found no where else,’ said Vasu Raja, the airline’s senior vice president of network planning.

The Fort Worth-based carrier will operate the flights from its hub at Los Angeles International Airport to Christchurch International Airport starting October 25, 2020 through March 26, 2021.   The flights are in partnership with the airline’s joint venture partner, Qantas.

American will use Boeing 787-8 aircraft with 20 fully lie-flat seats in its Flagship Business business-class cabin, 28 Premium Economy seats, 48 standard seats with extra legroom in its Main Cabin Extra premium-economy lite section, and 138 standard seats in coach.
