DSC_0836Air New Zealand, in conjunction with its joint-venture partner United Airlines, announced it will offer non-stop thrice-weekly service from Auckland to the New York metropolitan area starting in October 2020.

The news comes ten months after the launch of service between Auckland and Chicago.

The non-stop trip to Newark Liberty International Airport will cut down travel time from New Zealand to the East Coast of the United States by three hours, the airline said. The flight will be timed to allow for connections to 90 destinations from United Airlines’ New York-area hub.

“”It’s terrific we can make a seamless journey a reality for Kiwis wanting to experience New York and for U.S. travelers who have added New Zealand to their bucket list,” said Jeff McDowall, the airline’s acting CEO.

Air New Zealand will operate the flights with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft which features 18 fully lie-flat seats in the Business Premiere business-class cabin, 21 recliner seats in premium economy, and 263 standard seats in coach.
