DSC_0295Two United Airlines pilots – the pilot and the co-pilot – were arrested Saturday morning at Glasgow Airport after failing a breathalyzer test.

United Flight 162 was scheduled to depart for Newark Liberty International Airport at 9 a.m. local time but was cancelled. The two men were placed under arrest after police were called to the airport at 7:35 a.m.  They were stopped prior to boarding the aircraft.

“We hold all of our employees to the highest standards and have a strict, no tolerance policy for alcohol,” the airline said in a statement.

The airline said that the safety of its passengers and crew was “always our top priority.”

The airline said that the two pilots were removed from service and that the airline is “fully cooperating” with local authorities.
