We had three full-service restaurants and a bakery/coffee shop to choose from during our stay. Our first lunch in Yoshimi, with indoor and outdoor seating, and which offers a mix of sushi, tempura, Shabu-shabu hot pots and udon noodles. Our meal, served in the secluded Zen Garden, included a sampling of very fresh and tasty eel, octopus, mackerel, salmon and yellowtail tuna sushi rolls.

Rulfo was our destination for breakfast and a buffet mixture of American and Latin choices. For our Latin morning feast, we sampled the delicious poached eggs in “Ranchera” tomato sauce with cactus, fava beans and spring onions; and the scrumptious scrambled eggs with three different chorizos, refried beans and tortillas.

Our schedule did not allow us to enjoy Rulfo for dinner when the Latin-fusion restaurant serves a blend of Mexican, Peruvian and Argentinean fare, nor did we get a chance to sample the hotel’s Teppan Grill, which features fresh meat, fish and seafood dishes prepared in a Teppanyaki grill.

Amado is the hotel’s artisanal bakery featuring breads, cakes and desserts from European and Mexican recipes. Its Tom Chandley ovens were brought in from Manchester, England. We couldn’t resist trying its cookies, cakes and candies and especially enjoyed the Dulce de Mezcal boxed candies.

The Hyatt Regency Mexico City, sitting in the heart of Polanco, can’t be beat for proximity to key tourist attractions, business, shopping and the financial district. The dramatic high-ceiling lobby and interior architecture are visually arresting. The staff’s commitment to service and hospitality make every guest feel special. The many choices for dining, fitness, and unwinding make it a solid choice for exploring this capital city.
