British Airways to Deploy Apple iPhones to 15,000 Flight Attendants
British Airways said Wednesday it plans to deploy Apple iPhone XR smartphones to its 15,000 flight attendants starting immediately.
The move is part of the airline’s £6.5 billion investment to provide “a more personalized service” to its passengers. The investment also includes the deployment of high-speed Wi-Fi on its aircraft.
“Everything I need is in my pocket throughout each flight,” said Bradley Smith, a flight attendant who was one of the first to receive an iPhone XR .
The Apple iPhone XR was introduced in September 2018 and sells for $899 with 256 GB of storage. It has the longest battery life of any current iPhone, 25 hours of talk time and 15 hours of Internet use.
BA’s joint-venture partner, America Airlines, first deployed similar devices to its cabin crew in 2012.
