Amtrak announced a two-day sale through Saturday on all nationwide travel for the month of September.

The nation’s railroad is offering a 50% discount on all tickets with no blackout dates.

Examples of the sale fares include a $16 fare to get from Chicago to St. Louis, $58 to travel from Boston to Chicago, $51 to go from Chicago to Washington, D.C., and $87 for a business-class seat on the Amtrak Acela Express from Washington, D.C. to New York City.

There are no blackout dates and all nationwide train routes are on sale.  The only exceptions to the sale, the railroad said, would be unreserved service such as the Pennsylvanian, Capital Corridor, and the Pacific Surfliner.

Each passenger is allowed two pieces of luggage and two personal bags. Small pets are welcome on many trains.
