United Airlines Supports Women in Aviation with All-Female Dreamliner Flight to EAA AirVenture
United Airlines said it flew a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crewed solely by women to EAA AirVenture, an airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is the largest aviation enthusiast show of its kind in the world. It was founded in 1953 and is sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association. The event, which lasts a week, typically takes place starting the last Monday in July. During the show, the control tower at the local airport in Oshkosh is the busiest in the world.
United Flight 2760 pushed back at 7:53 a.m. CDT, guided by female ramp workers, and received instructions from a woman in the control tower. It took off from Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 8:13 a.m. after a 20-minute taxi, landed at Wittman Airport in Oshkosh a short time later at 8:52 a.m. and was parked at the gate at 9:03 a.m.
On board the aircraft were approximately 100 other women representing a cross-section of United workgroups including airport operations, inflight services, tech ops, and network operations.
