IMG_0488Air Canada said Tuesday it will resume flights to India following the reopening of Pakistan’s airspace to foreign countries.

The Canadian flag carrier said it plans to restart flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport on October 1, and return flights on October 3.

Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority closed the country’s airspace to all commercial flights in February. The move followed the shooting down of two Indian jets.

Air Canada will operate the Delhi flights with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

Earlier in the month, United said its flights linking Newark to both Mumbai and Delhi would start on September 6, 2019 and its seasonal service between Delhi and San Francisco will resume on schedule on December 5.

In addition to the flights operated by North American carriers, Air India said it will restart its flights from Toronto to Delhi on September 27.
