At least eight people, including some diners enjoying an al fresco meal, were injured when a taxi crashed into a restaurant in New York City on Thursday.

A taxi hit the Westville Hell’s Kitchen restaurant, located at 53rd Street and Ninth Avenue in the Hell’s Kitchen district in Manhattan.

The cab driver told police that someone hit him from behind, causing him to swerve into the restaurant.

Five people were taken to hospital, while three refused medical aid. Officials said that none of the injuries was life threatening.

Westville, which has multiple locations in the city, is known for its hippie friendly menu.
