Ride-hailing service Uber announced an expansion into helicopter service on Thursday.

Dubbed Uber Copter, the new service – bookable from the standard Uber app – will take passengers from Lower Manhattan to John F. Kennedy International Airport. The service will only be available to members of its loyalty program, Uber Rewards, with Platinum or Diamond status.

The eight-minute, one-way flight will cost between $200 and $225 per person and include private ground transportation by Uber on both ends of the trip.

Initially, the service will only be available Mondays through Fridays during the afternoon rush hour.  Driving from Manhattan to JFK at that time can take up to two hours and other modes of transportation, such as the Long Island Rail Road with link via the Port Authority AirTrain JFK, can take 50 to 75 minutes.

Uber said it plans to expand Uber Copter to other airports and cities after it gains experience with its initial foray in New York.
