Review and Test Drive: 2019 Kia K900 Luxury V6

Kia may very well be onto something, namely that luxury can be something that very few know about and have. After a one-year hiatus, the K900 is back with a new look and a higher price point.

Completely redesigned for 2019, the K900, which in some markets is known either as the K9 or the Quoris, is longer and more luxurious than its predecessor.

The Korean automaker has simplified the K900 lineup, going from three variants (V6 Premium, V6 Luxury, and V8 Luxury) to one, a single Luxury model.  A new 3.3-liter V6 from the Stinger replaces the V6 and V8s from the past generation.

The K900 is priced starting at $59,900, a significant increase from the 2017’s $50,850.   For this, the buyer gets a very opulent sedan that has quilted Nappa leather seats, rear seat heaters, 64-color interior ambient lighting, a 9.7-inch head-up display, a 20-way power driver’s seat, heated rear seats, and a 12.3” infotainment touchscreen atop the center stack.  But that’s not all, as they say on late-night television: there’s also a 17-speaker Lexicon Logic7 audio system, a 7” instrument cluster display, a 9.7” head-up display, and an analog clock designed by Maurice Lacroix, the brand’s horology partner.  How many automakers do you know of that have a horology partner? Rolls Royce  and David Ogilvy, eat your heart out!

The list does go on to include 19 wheels, adaptive suspension, LED headlights, and power-folding side-view mirrors complete with puddle lamps.

Indeed, Kia teases prospective buyers mercilessly.  Go to the options section when building a car on the website and you get messages such as this:  “No need to add Lexicon® Logic 7 Premium Surround Sound w/ 17 speakers, 900 Watts, Metallic Speaker Grilles, and QuantumLogic w/ Clari-Fi™ to your must-have features; it is already available on the vehicle you’ve configured.”
