Frankfurt Airport Reports Uptick in Traffic and Aircraft Movements for May

Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced traffic figures for May 2019.

Passenger traffic was approximately 6.2 million passengers for the month, a 1.4% increase from May 2018. The company said that the figure was lower than anticipated due to strikes and weather-related issues.

Frankfurt Airport also reported a 0.6% year-over-year increase in cargo tonnage for May, with 185,701 metric tons of cargo passing through the facility.

In addition, Fraport said the number of aircraft movements for the month increased by 1% year-over-year to 46,181 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights, or MTOWs, rose by 0.8% to approximately 2.8 million metric tons.
