DSC_0410Much of Europe will feel the effects of a major heat wave next week, forecasters warned.

The intense heat will first reach Spain over the weekend before continuing into France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Czechia. The continent will see high temperatures of 100° F (38° C) by the middle of the week.

The elevated temperatures, while still a rarity for the Continent, are particularly unusual for the month of June.

The Deutscher Wetterdienst said that the “extreme” heat wave would begin to impact Germany on Monday and continue through Thursday. Meteo-France said to expect the heat wave to bring temperatures from 95° F (35° C) to 100° F.

As the week progresses, warmer than usual temperatures are expected in Central and Eastern Europe, with the mercury hitting 90° F (32° C) or higher in Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia.
