5 TSA Agents Injured as Passenger Rushes Phoenix Sky Harbor Checkpoint

Five TSA agents at Phoenix International Sky Harbor Airport were injured when a passenger attempted to rush through a security checkpoint.

The attack, which took place on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. local time, took place inside Terminal 4. One TSA agent was taken to hospital while the other four were treated at an urgent care clinic.

Phoenix police identified the assailant as Tyrese Garner who was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest, both felonies, as well as five counts of misdemeanor assault.

The TSA characterized the attack as “unprovoked and brazen” in a statement.

The security checkpoint where the incident occurred was closed for approximately two hours.
