WestJet Encore Flight Attendant Union Certified by Canadian Industrial Relations Board
The Canadian Union of Public Employees, or CUPE, announced the Canadian Industrial Relations Board had certified it as the bargaining agent for WestJet Encore flight attendants.
The airline confirmed that it had received notice of CUPE’s certification from the agency as well.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get to work building their union,” said CUPE’s president, Mark Hancock.
WestJet Encore flight attendants voted for union representation and selected the Canadian Union of Public Employees to represent them in April 2019.
Flight attendants at WestJet’s mainline operation joined CUPE in the summer of 2018.
In April, WestJet said that it had reached an agreement with the pilots union representing WestJet Encore pilots.
