IMG_2587Southwest Airlines said it donated 10,000 round-trip tickets as part of its Medical Transportation Grant Program.

The tickets were distributed to 76 hospitals and medical transportation charities in 25 states and 40 cities. They are used to cover the cost of travel for patients who must fly to receive critical medical treatments.

“We are proud to provide a critical lifeline for patients and caregivers as they travel to receive or give life-saving care,” said Laurie Barnett, the airline’s director of communications.

Southwest launched the program in 2007 and, since then, has donated the equivalent of approximately $32 million in transportation costs.
