DSC_0342 (1)Just as the Passover and Easter holiday weekend is getting underway, a series of severe storms is bringing thunderstorms and heavy rain to the South Thursday and should arrive in the East midday Friday.

“A multi-day weather event with severe storms and heavy rainfall will impact several parts of the country,” said the National Weather Service in a statement.

The weather service warned of “strong tornadoes and wind damage” in some areas as well as flash flooding.

The storms have resulted in over 3,300 delays across the country as of 2:30 p.m. EDT Thursday with 362 cancellations, according to FlightStats, a website that tracks such data.

Expect hazardous travel conditions in the impacted areas.

The storm resulted in downed trees and power lines in Henderson Texas, which is east-southeast of Dallas, and 4” (10 cm) of rain was recorded in a suburb of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Meanwhile, the western United States will enjoy warm and dry weather into Friday.
