DSC_0370 (1)Marriott International said it will open 100 hotels in Asia in 2019 and have a total of 1,000 properties in the region by the end of 2020, a 40% increase in its footprint there.

The move – part of the company’s 40×2020 Vision plan – includes several brand debuts in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Nepal, and the Philippines. Currently Marriott has 710 properties in 23 countries and territories in the region.

The additional 100 hotels in 2019 will translate to over 20,000 new rooms in Asia for the hotelier.

“The breadth and depth of Marriott International’s footprint means that we are able to offer travelers opportunities to experience more destinations, brands and experiences,” said Craig Smith, the hotel chain’s managing director for the region. “We are dedicated to Marriott International remaining Asia Pacific’s favorite travel company,” he added.
