A passenger on an American Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix exited the aircraft rather abruptly shortly after landing by opening one of the plane’s doors and jumping onto the tarmac.

Crew members on American Airlines Flight 1346, which arrived at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 6:12 a.m. Friday morning, asked law enforcement to meet the aircraft because of an unruly passenger. Before police could arrive, the passenger had made his escape.

“American had requested law enforcement meet flight 1346 upon arrival in Phoenix due to a disruptive passenger,” the airline said in a statement. “Once the flight arrived at the gate, the passenger opened one of doors and jumped off the aircraft.”

In addition to law enforcement personnel, who were presumably already on their way to the aircraft, paramedics also responded.

Police said that the man, who was not identified, fell approximately 10’ (3 m) to the ground. He was stopped by airport workers and then taken into custody by Phoenix police officers.
