DSC_0588American Airlines will honor the work of 100 employees Tuesday at its annual Chairman’s Award celebration.

The event will take place at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas this year.

The award is intended to recognize those employees for a variety of accomplishments, ranging from volunteer work in their communities to going beyond what their job calls for at work.

“Many of tonight’s honorees have said ‘I was just doing my job,’ and indeed they may feel that way, but we know they have done so much more than that,” said Doug Parker, the airline’s CEO, in a statement.

“When I first found out I was a Chairman’s honoree, my heart began racing 1,000 mph, and it still does when I think about it. I feel like I’m just doing my job,” said Amaya Garcia, an honoree who is an International Training Coordinator from Mexico City.
