Wow Air in Eleventh-Hour Talks with Icelandair
Icelandair’s abandoned bid to acquire Wow Air from last fall may be on again.
Wow announced in a brief statement that a planned investment by Indigo Partners has fallen through and that it has reopened talks with Icelandair.
“The proposed investment of Indigo Partners LLC in Wow Air has been cancelled by Indigo Partners,” the airline said, adding that it “has started discussions with Icelandair Group.“
The airline also said that it hoped to conclude these negotiations by Monday.
Icelandair said that it expected concerns about the two competitors merging would be allayed by the “failing firm defense,” which suggests that Wow is in imminent danger of going out of business.
Indigo Partners has takes in several airlines including Frontier and Mexico’s Volaris in addition to the low-cost carrier Wizz Air.
