American Airlines and Hyatt Hotels announced a reciprocal rewards program that will allow members of one company’s loyalty program to earn rewards simultaneously with the other.

The program, which was unnamed at the time of publication, is reminiscent of Crossover Rewards, the program that Delta Air Lines and Starwood Hotels and Resorts announced in February 2013.

The program’s benefits vary according to the elite level that the individual member has. American Airlines AAdvantage Concierge Key members, the airline’s highest elite level, will receive World of Hyatt Globalist status, Hyatt’s highest.

In addition, those with AAdvantage Platinum, Platinum Pro, and Executive Platinum status as well as with World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist status will have future opportunities to do a status challenge to achieve an elite status in the reciprocal elite tier.

Further, higher level elite members in both programs will have the opportunity to earn bonus points. Those with AAdvantage Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum, and Concierge Key status will earn one bonus AAdvantage mile per dollar spent at qualifying Hyatt properties.

World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members will earn one bonus World of Hyatt point per dollar spent on qualifying American Airlines flights.
