Mokulele Airlines Acquired by Southern Airways

Southern Airways Express announced the acquisition of Mokulele Airlines, a commuter carrier based in Kona, Hawaii, from Transpac Aviation.

Mokulele primarily operates inter-island and charter flights between smaller airports in Hawaii. It also operates Lanai Air, a private air service to Lanai for guests staying at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai.

The Kona-based airline was founded in 1994 by Rebecca Kaweihi Inaba, making it the first airline to be started by a native Hawaiian woman.

Southern Airways serves 20 destinations across the country, while Mokulele serves nine destinations in Hawaii and two in California

Mokulele has a fleet of 14 Cessna 208EX Grand Caravan aircraft which seat nine passengers in a single-class coach cabin. It also has two Pilatus PC-12 aircraft that seat eight that it operates on behalf of Lanai Air.

Southern Airways Express has a fleet of 19 Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft and two Piper PA-31 Chieftains. Both carry nine passengers in a single class.
