JetBlue Traffic, Capacity Soared in January

DSC_0264JetBlue Airways announced operational results for January 2019. The carrier said that its total traffic and capacity were up for the month.

The New York-based airline’s passenger traffic was 4.10 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 7.9% from 3.80 billion RPMs in the same period last year.

JetBlue’s capacity increased by 9.9% to 5.10 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 4.64 billion ASMs in January 2018.

Meanwhile, the carrier’s passenger load factor for the month was 80.4%, down 1.5 percentage points from 81.9% last January.

The airline said its preliminary completion factor was 96% and its on-time performance was 69.4%. It also affirmed its guidance for first quarter revenue per available seat mile, or RASM. RASM is expected to be in the range of (2.0)% to 1%.
