A Hawaiian Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Maui returned to LAX three times following three departures on Friday and was finally cancelled.

The issue was due to what the airline called “separate and unrelated faults with different systems” in the Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

The flight first departed Los Angeles International Airport at 8:52 a.m. local time before returning several times.

The 207 passengers on board Hawaiian Flight 33 were provided with hotel rooms, accommodated on other flights, and given refunds for the cancelled flight.

The airline apologized to passengers on the flight.

“Safety is our top priority, and we apologize for the inconvenience to all our guests who were on board Flight 33 from Los Angeles International Airport to Maui’s Kahului Airport today,” it said in a statement. “We understand our guests’ disappointment and deeply regret their travel plans were disrupted.”
