American Airlines announced it will offer helicopter transfers to Los Angeles International and New York’s John F. Kennedy International airports as part of its Five Star Service offering.

The airline is also offering the option of access to the Private Suite, a private terminal at LAX with its own security checkpoint and customs hall.

The helicopter transfer service is operated by Blade.  In New York City, it is available between the West 30th Street Heliport in Manhattan and JFK.  In Los Angeles, the service will operate from the Robert F. Maguire Heliport.  In New York the flight to JFK from the heliport is five minutes, while in Los Angeles the flight to LAX is four.

The airline’s standard Five Star Service offering includes meeting the passenger(s) at curbside and assistance with check-in including use of the airline’s private Flagship First Check-in at Chicago O’Hare International, Los Angeles International, Miami International, and John F. Kennedy International airports.

It also includes bypassing the line at the security checkpoint, Admirals Club lounge access, an escort throughout the airport including to the gate, priority boarding, and priority rebooking in the event of a delay. American offers a similar service for connecting flights as well as for arrivals, although that service does not include bypassing the line for passport control when arriving in the U.S. Fees start at $350.
