The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Historic Hotels of America program said it inducted 27 historic hotels into the program in 2018.

Many of the hotels on the list were adaptive reuse projects and 16 are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. All told, the 27 historic hotels represent 16 different states of the Union.

Among the 27 are the Inn at Perry Cabin in Saint Michaels, Maryland, which dates back to 1816 and was built to resemble Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s cabin on the U.S.S. Niagara; the 21c Museum Hotel Louisville, where five 19th century warehouses serve today with 9,000 square feet (836 square meters) of exhibit space; and the Lodge at the Presidio in San Francisco, which is the former U.S. Army post’s Montgomery Street Barracks, built from 1895 to 1897 and offering views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the forest, and the San Francisco Bay.

Other properties include several additional 21c Museum Hotels; the DoubleTree by Hilton Youngstown Downtown, which was designed by the architect Albert Kahn; and the Greystone Hotel in Miami, Florida, designed by Henry Hohauser, known for bringing what became Miami’s great Art Deco legacy to the city.
