United Airlines Upgrades MileagePlus X App

United Airlines introduced a new version of its United MileagePlus X app.

The app, which is available on Apple iOS and Android platforms, allows members of the airline’s frequent-flyer program to earn miles for purchases at a variety of shops.

“As mobile payments become more commonplace, it was a natural tie for United to update the features, enable members to make purchases and earn and use miles on the go,” said Luc Bondar, vice president of loyalty at the airline.

Enhancements to the app include the integration of the MileagePlus Dining program and the MileagePlus shopping program as well as a new program, United Visa Rewards, which allows members to take advantage of special offers from that program.

Members who are also members of United Visa Rewards are eligible for a bonus of 1,000 miles.
