IMG_8489 2United Airlines introduced a completely redesigned version of its smartphone app.

Version 3.0 of the app features a completely redesigned home page and adds an inbox, which stores travel messages such as boarding notifications and flight status changes, as well as a My Profile section that includes MileagePlus frequent-flyer program account information and United Club lounge passes.

A key feature of the redesigned home screen is that it begins to update 48 hours before a flight. It continues to update with relevant information until arrival at the final destination. For connecting flights, for example, it will provide access to airport maps so a passenger can quickly locate the connecting flight’s gate.

The app “now features a more dynamic experience that updates customers at each step of their travel journey,” the airline said.

Other features include indoor airport maps and the ability to watch movies and television programs on select flights.

The new design makes it easier to quickly access important details for each trip, according to the airline. The new home page will open to provide “the most useful and relevant information.”

The app is available for Apple iOS as well as for Android devices.
