TAP Air Portugal announced it will treble the frequency of its Newark-Porto service starting in June. Porto is the second largest city in Portugal

The airline currently operates two flights per week and will offer six starting June 1. It is also adding connecting service from Porto to Brussels, Lyon, and Munich.

TAP will operate the flights using its new Airbus A321 Long Range fleet of aircraft.

The Airbus A321neoLR can carry up to 206 passengers in a standard two-class configuration, versus 236 for the standard version.  The long-range version is capable of traveling up to 4,600 miles (7,400 kilometers). Visually, there is only one difference: it has only a single door forward of the wing instead of two.

Last year, the carrier announced it would offer service linking Lisbon with both Chicago O’Hare International and Washington Dulles International airports and that it would also add Lisbon-San Francisco, using its new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, for which it is the launch customer.

TAP Air Portugal is the flag carrier of Portugal with its main hub at Lisbon Airport. TAP – Transportes Aéreos Portugueses – is a member of the Star Alliance and serves 87 destinations in 34 countries with a fleet of 90 aircraft.
