Southwest Traffic and Capacity Up for November

IMG_8481 2Southwest Airlines announced operational results for December 2018.

The carrier reported an increase in capacity and traffic, while its load factor was down.

The airline’s total system traffic was 11.1 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 3.3% from 10.7 billion RPMs in December 2017. The company reported a total system capacity of 13.6 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 5.4% from 12.9 billion the previous December.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month dropped by 1.7 percentage point to 81.6% from 83.3%.

The airline reported it carried 11.2 million passengers in the month, an increase of 1.2% over 11.1 million in December 2017.
