The news came via a message to employees by airline CEO Robin Hayes on December 31.

“In 2019 we will announce our decision on the Long Range version of the A321,” it said. “This aircraft could open up new and exciting markets for us,” he added, indicating that London was a possible destination from Boston and New York.

The New York-based airline currently has a fleet of 253 aircraft including 130 Airbus A320s, 63 A321s, and 60 Embraer E190s.

As of 2019, the airline has the option to configure its New Engine Option A321s to the Longer Range version, the A321LR, Airbus said in 2016, when JetBlue modified its purchase agreement with Airbus to add an additional 15 A321ceo jets and 15 A321neo airliners.
