London Heathrow, Europe’s busiest airport, was temporarily closed on Tuesday after a drone was sighted in the vicinity.

The incident comes after several such occurrences at nearby Gatwick Airport last month, where flights were repeatedly halted, in one case for over a day.

“We are responding to a drone sighting at Heathrow,” the airport said in a statement. “As a precautionary measure, we have stopped departures while we investigate. We apologize to passengers for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The report of a drone came shortly after 5 p.m. local time, police said.

Gatwick, London’s second busiest airport, suffered significant flight disruptions after drone sightings on three consecutive days resulted in the cancellation of over 1,000 flights.
