Delta Reports Jump in Traffic and Capacity for December

DSC_0498Delta Air Lines announced operational results for December 2018. The airline carried 15.3 million passengers in the month, a record for the month of December.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the month was 17.63 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 5.4 %, up from 16.73 billion in December 2017. Domestic traffic rose 7%, while international traffic rose 2.6%.

Total system-wide capacity for the month also increased, up 5.4% to 20.94 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 19.87 billion last year. The airline’s domestic capacity was up 6.7%, while international capacity rose by 3.1%.

The airline reported a system-wide load factor of 84.2%, unchanged from a year ago.
