DSC_0342 (1)Air France said on Thursday that it is planning to shut down its Joon lower-cost subsidiary. The airline is also planning to move Joon’s employees and aircraft back to Air France.

The French flag carrier acknowledged that customers and employees alike failed to understand Joon.

“Despite the many positive impacts of Joon… the brand was difficult to understand from the outset for customers, for employees, for markets, and for investors,” adding that Joon “weakened the power of the Air France brand.”

Air France said it will not transfer some of its Airbus A350 aircraft to Joon as a result of the decision.

Joon, which made its debut in 2017, was targeted at millennials “whose lifestyles revolve around digital technology.”

Air France will continue to operate Joon for flights which have already been booked.
