IMG_3328 (1)United Airlines announced plans to open its fifth Polaris Lounge, this one at Los Angeles International Airport.

The lounge will open its doors on January 12, 2019 and a media preview will be held at the lounge on January 10.

The Chicago-based airline originally planned to open the Houston lounge this year. Earlier in the year it opened Polaris Lounges in San Francisco, Newark, and Houston. The first Polaris Lounge opened in 2016 in Chicago.

Additional Polaris Lounges are planned for Hong Kong, London, Tokyo’s Narita Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport.

The new lounge is open only to Polaris-ticketed customers and Star Alliance first- and business-class passengers. It is located in Terminal 7, which is used exclusively by United.

The Polaris Lounge is intended to bridge the in-lounge and in-flight experiences. Passengers are invited to sit down for a complete dinner prior to departure in order to maximize sleep time once on board.

The lounge will feature seating that ranges from the very private, where the seats resemble an international first-class suite, to more open banquettes and a dining area with tables and chairs. Electrical outlets and USB ports will be available at virtually every seat.

In addition, the facility will feature private daybeds equipped with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, and shower suites featuring Cowshed Spa products.

The Premium bar will serve a wide assortment of drinks that may be ordered from any location within the Polaris Lounge.
