TAP Air Portugal announced quince-weekly non-stop service between Lisbon and San Francisco as well as free text messaging on long-haul flights.

The new route will be the airline’s eighth North American destination and the only one on the west coast.  TAP Air Portugal will operate the flight on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting June 10.  Flights will depart San Francisco International Airport at 4:10 p.m. and arrive at Lisbon Airport at 11:25 a.m. the following day.  The return flights leaves Lisbon at 10 a.m. local time, arriving in San Francisco at 2:40 p.m. the same day.

The airline will operate the route using its new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, for which it is the launch customer. The A330neo has 34 fully lie-flat seats in its Executive business-class cabin. Each seat extends into a six-foot-long (183-centimeter-long) bed and offers generous personal space and storage room. Seats in the premium-economy lite cabin, EconomyXtra, have a seat pitch of 34” while coach seats have a seat pitch of 31”. The aircraft’s Wi-Fi system offers free text messaging for all passengers.

Last month, the carrier announced it would offer service linking Lisbon with both Chicago O’Hare International and Washington Dulles International airports.

TAP Air Portugal is the flag carrier of Portugal with its main hub at Lisbon Airport. TAP – Transportes Aéreos Portugueses – is a member of the Star Alliance and serves 87 destinations in 34 countries with a fleet of 90 aircraft.
