IMG_8489 2United Airlines will bring back one of its favorite morning snacks, the stroopwafel.

“We’re starting 2019 on a sweet note – the stroopwafel will be back in the snack rotation starting in January,” the airline said via Twitter.

The stroopwafel is a waffle made from two thin layers of baked dough that is filled with a caramel syrup.  It was reportedly first made in Gouda in the early 19th century.  Stroop is the Dutch word for syrup.

The Chicago-based airline first offered the stroopwafel as a snack in February 2016.
